There is only one reason why First Baptist Church of Huancayo exists: that God would be glorified. Not a church seeking its own name, nor its own growth, but a congregation that exists so that “to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus, throughout all generations, forever and ever” (Ephesians 3:21). That is, simply, our reason for being.

From our beginnings, we have not sought to please itching ears or soften the message. Our mission has been—and continues to be—to see the whole counsel of God’s Word proclaimed, without cuts, without compromise, one verse at a time. We believe that Scripture does not need to be improved or adorned with human wisdom; it only needs to be preached faithfully, because it is the living Word of God that accomplishes the work that only He can do in the heart of man (Isaiah 55:11).

We are a congregation of the Lord Jesus Christ. Not a religious club, not a cultural institution, but a living body submitted to the authority of Scripture, yielded to the centrality of the gospel, and fully devoted to the mission of God — all for His glory.

Four convictions — our pillars — uphold everything we are and do:

• The glory of God. We do not preach to entertain, nor do we gather to feel good; we exist so that God would be exalted in His church, now and throughout all ages (Ephesians 3:21).
• The preaching of the Word. We step into the pulpit not to share opinions, but to proclaim what God has already said — in season and out of season, with patience and instruction, whether it is received with joy or with resistance (2 Timothy 4:2).
• The building up of the brethren. The church is not a building or a weekly event; it is a body growing toward maturity in Christ, where every believer is equipped to serve and none walks alone (Ephesians 4:12).
• The extension of the kingdom of God. We do not remain within our four walls. We receive power from the Holy Spirit to be witnesses of Christ and make disciples — in Huancayo, in Peru, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).

As a Baptist church, we firmly hold to the supreme authority of Scripture, salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, baptism by immersion as a public testimony of a life that has passed from death to life, and the truth that every believer has direct access to the Father through Christ, without need of any human mediator.
